OCONOMOWOC RIVER TOUR  – 

You will start at the Okauchee Lake Launch. Paddle to Upper Oconomowoc Lake then portage to the Oconomowoc River (by Oconomowoc Lake Boat Launch). Continue on the Oconomowoc River to Oconomowoc Lake, then exit the lake at the Northwest corner back onto the river. A short time later you will portage the Dam on the the river, put back in, and paddle to Fowler lake, taking out at the Fowler Lake launch.

    How it works:

    Meet at the Okauchee Lake Launch. After an introduction, you will paddle the lakes and river for 3 hours and take out at Fowler Lake.

    Summit Park and Ride Oconomowoc, WI 53066.

    Take out:

    Genesee lake road

    Restrooms:

    No restrooms at the Launch

    Lake country trail (before or after paddling)

    I94 Launch (on the water)

    Bring your own boat:

    Return From Genesee Lake Road – You and your boat. Single $10, Tandem/Canoe $20 (call for reservation)

    Choose how you spend time on the Bark River, Nemahbin lakes or, Crooked lake.  There are great locations to swim in the river sections of the tour.  Often the water in the river is much warmer than the lakes, this is ideal in spring and fall.

    Expect to see:

    • Clear gentle flowing water with mainly sand or rocky bottom
    • Herons, cranes, ducks, geese, songbirds, swallows, redwing blackbirds
    • Many species of turtles, frogs, fish (panfish pike, bass, darters etc.)
    • Muskrat, deer, fox, beaver
